Terms & Conditions

Use of Harrisonburg County Released Inmates means acceptance of these terms. They govern access to the pages, links, and search tools offered through this private reference site. A visitor who does not agree should stop using the site.

This is a privately owned reference with no tie to any government body, sheriff, jail, or corrections department. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a consumer report or FCRA-covered service for credit, employment, insurance, or tenant screening.

Nature of the Website

Harrisonburg County Released Inmates is not a public agency, private investigation firm, or consumer reporting agency. It stores no official jail or court files. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or submit a government request for a visitor.

The pages organize Harrisonburg and Virginia inmate, release, court, and supervision resources. Some links connect visitors with independent research tools.

Acceptable Use Rules

Visitors agree to use the site in a lawful, respectful way. A visitor must not:

  • break a law through use of the site;
  • stalk, threaten, or harass another person;
  • base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on site content;
  • attempt access without authorization;
  • operate bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools; or
  • interfere with access for other visitors.

No Consumer Reports

The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not offer background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports, and neither it nor its advertising partners provides a screening service. Visitors agree not to use information for:

  • hiring, firing, or another job decision;
  • tenant selection or housing decisions;
  • creditworthiness or insurance pricing;
  • licenses, permits, or public-benefit eligibility; or
  • any other purpose governed by the FCRA.

Third-Party Destinations

Links may lead to public release records, sheriff and corrections sites, courts, legal aid, federal systems, or outside search tools. A link is not an endorsement. The destination controls its own content, data practices, fees, and uptime, and visitors should review its terms.

Information Provided As Is

All site content and functions are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that:

  • information is accurate, complete, or current;
  • the site will remain available without interruption;
  • pages are free from defects or security flaws; or
  • a partner search will return every relevant record.

Custody status and public records can change quickly. Nothing on this site is an official statement from a sheriff, jail, court, or government agency.

Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the site, its owners, and its providers are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar loss arising from access to or use of the site, reliance on its content, or inability to use it.

User Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold the site, its owners, and its providers harmless from claims, losses, duties, and reasonable legal fees caused by that visitor’s use, misuse, or breach of these terms.

Ownership of Content

Unless another owner is identified, the text, graphics, logo, design, and code belong to Harrisonburg County Released Inmates or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, republished, or modified without written permission.

Changes to Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A new version takes effect when posted. Continued use after posting means acceptance of the revised terms.

Access May End

Access may be limited, suspended, or revoked at any time, with or without advance notice, when needed to protect the site, enforce these terms, or for another lawful reason.

Virginia Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute must be filed in a court with proper jurisdiction in Virginia.

Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable.
